LL-37 Research Overview
LL-37 is the only human member of the cathelicidin family of host-defense peptides. It is released from its precursor, hCAP18, and is named for its two N-terminal leucines and 37-residue length. LL-37 is supplied for qualified in-vitro laboratory research and analytical use only.
Compound profile
- Compound class: Cationic antimicrobial peptide (cathelicidin family)
- Length: 37 amino acids
- Molecular weight: ≈ 4493.3 g/mol
- CAS number: 154947-66-7
- Form: Lyophilized powder in a sealed vial
- Testing: Third-party HPLC purity and identity, batch-matched COA
Research context
LL-37 is studied for direct antimicrobial and anti-biofilm activity against bacteria, fungi and enveloped viruses, and for its immunomodulatory roles — including chemotaxis, cytokine regulation and wound re-epithelialization. Research models span skin and mucosal immunity, biofilm disruption and the interaction between host-defense peptides and the microbiome.
Storage and handling
Store unopened lyophilized vials sealed and protected from light — at −20 °C for long-term storage, or 2–8 °C for short-term use. Once reconstituted, keep refrigerated at 2–8 °C, minimize freeze–thaw cycles and rely on your laboratory’s own validated stability data.
Quality and documentation
Every lot is third-party tested, and the Certificate of Analysis is matched to the exact batch you receive — look it up any time on the COA page. Browse more Tissue & Inflammatory Pathway Research, or see related compounds: Thymosin Alpha 1 10MG, KPV 10MG.
